With their blend of Malaysian tradition and cosmopolitan elegance, the XALF Wau collection is the perfect ambassador for the brand this Hari Raya
Over one-and-a-half years after the launch of their Malaysian-based shoe label, XALF is launching their latest in celebration of Hari Raya Adilfitri. Three in fact: the wau inspired trio of Puyuh, Bulan and Merak. Given that the effortless gliding of the traditional Kelantan kites and its intricate floral motif was the original inspiration for the collection, it’s the perfect accessory for festive celebrations. “It’s an amalgamation of our Malaysian symbol and XALF’s penchant for details and craftsmanship,” says Xavier Mah, founder of XALF. “It sounds time-honoured and yet we believe we've made our creations chic and a bit upper class.”
The duo has given the pointy pumps, peep toes and ankle boots three very different looks. For Puyuh, where leather is perfectly complemented by Songket material and silver metal studs. The Bulan is, of course, influenced by the moon-kite feature custom-made embroidery and gold-plated metal chain as a modern touch. Lastly, the Merak is a four-inch ankle boot that can be worn when visiting relatives and friends.
